Fundraiser for Burmese Cyclone Victims
Sunday May 19, 2008
The
cyclone that ripped through Burma left tens of thousands dead and a million
homeless--the worst natural disaster in Burmese history. In many of the worst-hit
areas, monasteries are the only source of shelter and food for Burma's poorest
people. Funds are being raised for the International Burmese Monks Organization
to transmit directly to monasteries in affected areas who can then provide much
needed aid to victims. Join us at a local fundraising event. If you are unable
to attend, please make a donation in an amount of your choice.

Pathways to Justice: Delivering Social Justice
June 5th - 7th, 2008
The State Bar of California, Office of Legal Services, Access & Fairness
Programs, Program Development Unit and the Legal Aid Association of California
invite you to join us in downtown Los Angeles for a two and one-half day statewide
training conference focused on the delivery of legal services to low-income,
moderate-income and self-represented litigants. More than 40 training sessions
with MCLE credit will be offered. Attendees can earn up to a total of 13.5 hours
of MCLE credit, including Legal Ethics. The sessions cover a variety of topics
and training formats and are designed for a broad range of staff and volunteers
from legal services programs, pro bono programs, self-help centers, court-based
programs, lawyer referral services and other partnership programs. The next
