Established in 1999, SABA Foundation is the charitable arm of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California ("SABA"). MISSIONThe SABA Foundation’s mission is to promote access to justice for all people in the community, particularly those struggling with economic crisis, abuse, or discrimination.ABOUT USEstablished in 1999, the SABA Foundation has consistently promoted and supported public interest work in the San Francisco Bay area. One of the main ways in which the SABA Foundation achieves its mission is by awarding annual public interest fellowships to enable law students to dedicate their time, effort and knowledge for the benefit of the South Asian community in Northern California.The Foundation awarded its first grant in 2003, to Harini Sivaligam, a summer intern at the Asian American Legal defense and Education Fund. Since then, the Foundation has enjoyed steady growth and recognition, and in 2009, the Foundation awarded seven fellowships, including an organizational fellowship to a public interest organization in the Bay Area. |
