Kunwar Singh -- Co-President

Kunwar Singh is General Counsel for Mission West Properties and RingCarrier LLC. . Her practice focuses on corporate and Intellectual Property law issues including patent prosecution, patent litigation, copyrights, trademark prosecution and litigation and contract disputes. She has previously worked as an IP associate at Haynes, Beffel and Wolfeld, LLP.

Ms. Singh received her JD from Hamline University School of Law in Minnesota, graduating cum laude. She also has an undergraduate degree in Computer Systems, graduating first, summa cum laude, in her class. Ms. Singh has been involved with several pro bono cases serving the most under represented sections of society.






Daljit Dhami -- Co-President

Daljit Dhami is an Associate Attorney at Sundeen, Salinas & Pyle where her practice focuses on civil rights issues, labor and employment law, personal injury and some police misconduct cases. She previously served as a Migrant Staff Attorney at the Fresno office of California Rural Legal Assistance representing agricultural workers in various types of litigation, including wrongful termination/discrimination cases, representative actions involving wage and hour issues and sexual harassment claims.

Ms. Dhami received her J.D. from Golden Gate University’s Honors Lawyering Program in 2007. During law school, she interned with Federal Magistrate Judge Wayne Brazil of the United States District Court for the Northern District, the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, and the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. In 2006, she was awarded the South Asian Bar Association Public Interest Fellowship. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California Foundation and the Central Valley chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.

P Charu Satia -- Vice President

Charu received her JD from Santa Clara University School of Law and her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University. Charu's experience is primarily in litigation and intellectual property. Charu was also a SABA fellow in 2008 when she received the Dalip Singh Saund scholarship for her internship at the Asian Law Alliance in San Jose. Prior to attending law school, Charu worked in the pharmaceutical industry.





Sadhana (Sandy) D. Narayan -- Treasurer


Ms. Narayan has been an attorney for 23 years; and the chief litigator and managing owner of a seven attorney firm, The Narayan Law Firm. She possesses significant civil jury trial experience, in both State and Federal Courts; and was named in Super Lawyer Magazine, by her peers, to be in the top 5% of lawyers in Northern California in her field. Her practice involves civil rights, personal injury, employment and civil rights. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at UCSF, Hastings College of Law. Ms. Narayan serves as Judge Pro Tem in various State Courts and as an Early Neutral Evaluator in the Federal Court, Northern District.




Amanpreet Kaur -- Secretary

Amanpreet Kaur is currently working as a research associate at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP, and awaiting the July 2010 bar results. Formerly, she served as the student liaison for the SABA Foundation. She received her J.D. from Golden Gate University, specializing in Intellectual Property, and her B.A. from the University of California, Davis in Economics and Anthropology.

Sylvia Bains -- Co Events Coordinator

Sylvia Bains practices in the Litigation and Corporate groups at the Santa Clara office of The Chugh Firm, APC. Sylvia received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and her B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Davis.

While at Santa Clara University, Sylvia served as the President of the South Asian Law Student Association. Sylvia also served on the board of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California as the Student Liaison.

In addition to the South Asian Bar Association Foundation, Sylvia is also a member of the board of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California as the events co-chair.


Nitin Gambhir -- Co Events Coordinator


Nitin Gambhir, an associate in Orrick's Silicon Valley office, is a member of the Intellectual Property Group.  His practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation.  Nitin received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008.

He attended UCLA for his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering and graduate degree in Computer Science.

During his second year of law school, he interned for the Licensing & Technology Group at Cisco Systems. Prior to law school, Nitin interned for PricewaterhouseCoopers as part of the Database Management Group. He also interned for the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property Administration.  Additionally, during college he co-founded a few startups in the technology space.
